DOA·S is an emerging, sole proprietor architectural practice based in Vancouver BC, founded by Diego Ortiz, which focuses on comprehensive residential and/or commercial projects.
The practice thrives through collaboration with talented builders and makers to produce thoughtfully crafted architectural works: from tangible/personable objects to habitable spaces.
Utilizing iterative & creative processes acquired through years of education and professional experience, DOA·S specializes in generating pragmatic architectural solutions that aim towards unique built interior and exterior environments. We believe that architecture should be tactile and physically felt through the eyes and body - void of sterile spaces.
Each project is considered entirely and given a common architectural language so that a reoccurring theme is present throughout its landscape, interiors, and furniture. DOA·S maintains its presence through all phases of the project - from conceptual design up to construction completion, to maintain a collaborative presence with the entire project team, and ensure client’s goals are fulfilled.
Diego is a registered Architect with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC). His education is comprised of a Bachelors of Environmental Design from the School of Architecture at the University of Manitoba, and a Masters of Architecture from the University of British Columbia.
With a decade of local experience, Diego’s early architectural career was influenced by west-coast modern architectural design principles while assisting FWC Architecture & Urban Design, where notions of human scale connection and landscape significance were deeply ingrained.
Accumulated professional experience include projects in custom residential, multi family mixed use residential, social housing, adaptive re-use, custom interior retail, large office buildings, site analysis, master planning and feasibility studies.
