The Hemingway Treehouse:  Re-Birth (1975) 2014-2023

FWC Architecture & Urban Design

Published through Blurb

Completed 2024

Along with short writings from Imu Chan, the home owners, Fook Weng Chan and Brian Hemingway, the book is primarily made up of three parts:  the condition of the house up until 2014; the renovation process; and photography of the many completed interventions throughout the house, including professional photography by Peter Powles.

The book has been arranged with the purpose of documenting the journey and process of the renovation, focusing on a number (but not all) of alterations and interventions born out of curiosity by the owners, and executed through the creativity of those involved, but particularly by Fook Weng’s interpretation of the owner’s visions.

The book was created as gift gesture to the home owners, and is therefore not available for purchase.

The book showcases the body of work by FWC Architecture in the last 25 years.  It is an encyclopedia of the dozens of custom residential projects realized by the architect, from renovations, bespoke homes, to un-built projects.  It was designed and organized as a personal portfolio of work for the architect Fook Weng Chan.

Due to privacy and copyright reasons, the book was created as a personal item for the architect’s family & friends, and is therefore not available for public view or purchase.
