Birdhouse

West Vancouver, BC.

Completed 2020

Work Produced under:

Builder:

As part of a series of birdhouses designed by each individual involved in the overall house renovation and placed throughout the site, Diego took inspiration from the main house light fixture in the living atrium space by borrowing elements from the vertical and horizontal screening patterns.

The mid and lower section is composed of a series of interlocking vertical and horizontal solid wood pieces, while the upper section is mainly a charred cedar box detailed to specific dimensions, both inside and outside, for Chickadee birds to nest. The birdhouse and drawings were featured in the West Vancouver Museum exhibition “Design for Living: West Coast Modern Homes Revisited” in the summer of 2018.
