The piece is made out of Yellow Cedar 1x4’s for the bracing components, and Fir 1x4’s (glued on edge) as the shelving surface.  It is part of a series of interventions for the home office  upgrade. It features simple hand woodworking joinery without the use of fasteners. 

 

The upper shelf can hold large items (books, deco, etc), while the small lower shelf is purposely dimensioned to hold decorative & detailed objects to be seen at eye-level (either sitting or standing).
